Professional photography on Thulhaadhoo, Baa Atoll — honeymoon and couples sessions, proposals, families, and drone aerials, photographed by locals who know the island's best light.

About Thulhaadhoo
Thulhaadhoo is a small, densely packed island of about 1,500 people in the southwest of Baa Atoll, roughly 120 km from Male. It is the only island in the Maldives where the traditional lacquerware craft of liyelaa jehun is still practiced at scale, and workshops turning wooden vases and boxes on hand lathes sit right along the village lanes. The island lies inside the UNESCO Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, with sandbanks and reef excursions on its doorstep.

What we shoot on Thulhaadhoo

Practical notes for Thulhaadhoo
Thulhaadhoo is a conservative, densely built village island with very limited beach; modest dress applies around the village. Sources conflict on whether a designated bikini beach exists, so confirm with your guesthouse before planning swimwear shoots on-island.
The practical fast route is a 20-25 minute domestic flight from Male to Dharavandhoo, then a boat transfer across the atoll; scheduled speedboats and slower public ferries also connect the island.
The Maldives has no small-drone exemption: any drone flight requires Maldives National Defence Force approval and a Civil Aviation Authority permit, applied for weeks in advance. Baa Atoll's biosphere core zones such as Hanifaru Bay carry additional restrictions.
November to April is the region's dry season for settled weather; the Hanifaru Bay manta season runs roughly May to November on the southwest monsoon.

Often yes. Drone rules vary by island and resort; we check Thulhaadhoo's current permissions before your session and, where flying isn't possible, plan aerials from a nearby sandbank.
