on Maafushi
Professional photography on Maafushi, Kaafu Atoll: honeymoon and couples sessions, proposals, families and drone aerials, photographed by locals who know the island's best light.

About Maafushi
Maafushi is the island that opened the Maldives to independent travel: a 1.2 km strip in South Male Atoll with around 4,500 residents and more than fifty guesthouses and small hotels. It is the busiest local island in the country, with a harbour full of dhonis and excursion boats, yet its northern beaches still deliver the powder-white sand and turquoise shallows the atoll is famous for.
Shooting on Maafushi

Golden hour, roughly 5:30 to 6:30pm, is when Maafushi's beaches glow. We schedule every shoot around it.

Beaches & photo spots on Maafushi
The designated tourist beach on the island's north edge: wide white sand, shallow turquoise water and beach swings. This is the classic Maafushi frame.
Working dhonis, speedboats and excursion craft against open lagoon, strongest at sunrise and golden hour when the boat traffic silhouettes.
A bare white sandbank about ten minutes by boat from Maafushi, with a 360-degree water horizon. Ideal for couple and drone-free wide shots.
The lagoon off the tourist beach fills with jet skis, parasails and fun tubes by mid-morning. Good for action frames; quieter at first light.
What we shoot on Maafushi

Practical notes for Maafushi
Swimwear is permitted only on the fenced tourist beach at the northern end of the island. Elsewhere, as on all inhabited islands, modest dress is required.
The public ferry from Male runs daily except Friday, departing around 15:00 and taking about 90 minutes for roughly 2 USD. Scheduled shared speedboats run several times daily, about 35 minutes for around 25 USD.
Drone flights anywhere in the Maldives require written approval from the MNDF and the Civil Aviation Authority plus island council consent, and processing takes weeks, so plan aerial work well ahead.

Yes. Maafushi has a designated bikini beach, so swimwear and beachwear frames are fine there. Elsewhere on the island modest dress applies, which we plan around.
Often yes. Drone rules vary by island and resort; we check Maafushi's current permissions before your session and, where flying isn't possible, plan aerials from a nearby sandbank.
