About Fehendhoo

Fehendhoo is one of the quietest inhabited islands in Baa Atoll: a ribbon of land about 2.5 km long and only 200 m wide, home to under 200 people clustered at its eastern end. The rest of the island is shaded jungle threaded with sandy paths that open onto empty pocket beaches. It sits in the remote Goidhoo group of the atoll, well away from the resort circuit, and is reached via neighboring Goidhoo.

Beaches & photo spots on Fehendhoo

Eastern sandbar toward Goidhoo

The island's eastern tip adjoins a sandbar facing Goidhoo — long, clean lines of sand and shallow turquoise water.

Fehendhoo jetty

Stingrays gather near the jetty in the evenings for feeding — reliable close-range wildlife at golden hour.

South-coast lagoon

Calm turquoise lagoon with scattered coral patches along the island's southern shore.

Jungle paths and pocket beaches

Dense interior crossed by shady sandy paths that end in small, usually deserted beaches; northern beaches are noticeably wider.

Before you go

Practical notes for Fehendhoo

01
Bikini beach

Guesthouses maintain designated tourist beach areas away from the village where swimwear is fine; modest dress applies in the settlement at the eastern end.

02
Getting there

Scheduled speedboats run Male to Goidhoo (around 2 hours, roughly USD 33-45 one way depending on operator), with a 5-10 minute small-boat hop on to Fehendhoo; a slow overnight supply ferry also serves the Goidhoo islands. Fehendhoo has no large harbor of its own.

03
Drone rules

Drone flights anywhere in the Maldives require MNDF approval plus a Civil Aviation Authority permit arranged weeks ahead; there is no exemption for sub-250 g drones.

04
Season

November to April brings the dry-season calm typical of the central atolls; May to November is the Hanifaru Bay manta season elsewhere in Baa Atoll.
