About Felidhoo

Felidhoo is the administrative capital of Vaavu (Felidhe) Atoll, yet it is a village of barely 620 people on an island of 0.14 km², roughly 78 km south of Malé. It sits on the atoll's eastern rim close to the channels that make Vaavu famous for diving — strong currents, nurse sharks and the renowned Fotteyo Kandu — and a handful of guesthouses use it as a base for those waters and for the sandbanks inside the lagoon. The island itself is calm, with a designated bikini beach and a working harbour.

Where we shoot

Beaches & photo spots on Felidhoo

Bikini beach

The island's designated tourist beach — compact, sandy and quiet, with open lagoon light.

Fotteyo Kandu and the eastern channels

Vaavu's signature dive channels a short boat ride away — underwater work with sharks and schooling fish, and boat-deck frames of the atoll edge.

Lagoon sandbanks

Bare sandbanks inside the atoll reached by dhoni — minimal sand-and-water sets for portraits.

Harbour and jetty

Dhonis and speedboats in the small harbour, with fish-cleaning and boat-prep scenes in the early morning.
