Ukulhas is a slender island in Alif Alif Atoll, about 1,025 metres long and 225 wide and home to roughly 1,000 people, that has become the Maldives' best-known example of a community-run eco island.
Planning a drone photoshoot on Ukulhas? The island sits about 72 km from Malé in Alifu Alifu Atoll, roughly 90 minutes by speedboat. It has a designated bikini beach, so swimwear frames are possible on the tourist stretch. The calmest seas and clearest skies typically run Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, Nov, Dec. Drone & Aerial on Ukulhas: quick answers
Yes, with permissions. Drone flights require approval and local consent, and rules differ by island and resort. Our pilots are licensed and we arrange the permissions for your location in advance.
A sandbank. The classic Maldives aerial is two people on a bare white sandbank surrounded by turquoise. We take you there by boat from your island or resort, usually a 10–20 minute ride.
Speedboat from Malé in 90 minutes (~$50). If you're already staying on Ukulhas, we meet you there; we photograph guests on their own island.
Golden hour: roughly the last 60–90 minutes before sunset, and the first hour after sunrise. We schedule every Ukulhas session around it and move between jetty, beach and palm lines as the light changes.
