## Where we shoot on *Beau Vallon*

- The bay curve: The full sweep of sand with the headland at the northern end, best in the last hour of light.
- The northern rocks: Granite at the far end of the bay, quieter than the centre and useful when the beach is busy.
- The shallows: A long gentle shelf that stays waist-deep well out, which makes in-water work easy here.

- Sunset beach: Beau Vallon faces north-west, so the sun sets into the water in front of it. This is the evening session on Mahé.
- Season: Calmest from roughly May to September. The north-west winds of December to March push swell and weed into the bay.
