# Maldives Photographer on Velidhoo

Velidhoo is the most populous island of Noonu Atoll, home to about 1,800 people some 167 km north of Male, in what is regarded as one of the country's great fishing regions. It is a proper working island, with fishing dhonis, a harbor completed in 2017 and a village organized into three wards including a reclaimed extension. Its best-loved landmark is the Velidhoo Bodu Nikagas, a banyan tree that islanders reckon at over 300 years old.

- Getting there: Public speedboats connect Male and Velidhoo in roughly 2.5-3 hours from about USD 70 one way; the alternative is a domestic flight to Maafaru airport in Noonu Atoll followed by a short speedboat transfer.
- Beach rules: Swimwear is limited to the designated bikini beach near the guesthouses; modest dress applies elsewhere on this sizable local island, and no alcohol is sold.
- Drone rules: Nationwide rules apply: MNDF approval plus a Civil Aviation Authority permit are required for any drone, arranged weeks before travel.
- Season: November to April is the general Maldives dry season for the most settled shooting weather.

**How do we get to Velidhoo for the shoot?**

We arrange boat or domestic transfer, or pair you with a Coora photographer already in Noonu Atoll. If you're already staying on Velidhoo, we meet you there; we photograph guests on their own island.

**When is the best light for a photoshoot on Velidhoo?**

Golden hour: roughly the last 60–90 minutes before sunset, and the first hour after sunrise. We schedule every Velidhoo session around it and move between jetty, beach and palm lines as the light changes.
