# Maldives Photographer on Thinadhoo

Thinadhoo is the capital of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll and the principal town of the deep south, with around 10,000 people about 407 km from Malé. It has city status, a large reclaimed footprint, a substantial harbour and a domestic airport on neighbouring Kaadedhdhoo, a few minutes away by boat. It is a base rather than a beach destination, but it opens up the southern half of Huvadhu Atoll: famous dive channels, uninhabited islands and the thundu kunaa mat-weaving island of Gadhdhoo across the lagoon.
