# Maldives Photographer on Gan

Gan in Laamu Atoll is one of the longest islands in the Maldives, a green ribbon of about 4,800 people some 250 km south of Malé, joined by causeway and road to Kadhdhoo airport, Fonadhoo and Maandhoo in the longest road link in the country. Its length gives it long, empty beaches and shady lanes, and its past includes Buddhist stupa ruins among the interior woods. Laamu's outer reefs carry surf (the Yin Yang break is the best known), and the atoll's channels and sandbanks are within easy reach by boat.

## Beaches & photo spots on *Gan*

- Long eastern beaches: Kilometres of palm-backed sand facing the ocean, with sunrise light and empty foregrounds.
- Causeway road: The road across the lagoon linking Gan to Kadhdhoo and Fonadhoo: leading lines and turquoise water on both sides.
- Buddhist ruins: Stupa mounds in the island's interior, for heritage frames in dappled light; respect the site.
- Laamu surf breaks (by boat): Yin Yang and nearby reef breaks, with surf action in the swell season.

## Practical notes for *Gan*

- Getting there: Fly Malé to Kadhdhoo Airport (about 40 minutes); Gan is a short drive across the causeway.
- Dress and beaches: Guesthouses designate tourist beach areas for swimwear; modest dress applies in the villages strung along the island.
- Drones: Nationwide permits required, with airport airspace restrictions near Kadhdhoo.

## Photoshoot on *Gan*: FAQ

**How do we get to Gan for the shoot?**

We arrange boat or domestic transfer, or pair you with a Coora photographer already in Laamu Atoll. If you're already staying on Gan, we meet you there; we photograph guests on their own island.

**When is the best light for a photoshoot on Gan?**

Golden hour: roughly the last 60–90 minutes before sunset, and the first hour after sunrise. We schedule every Gan session around it and move between jetty, beach and palm lines as the light changes.

**Can we wear swimwear for our photoshoot on Gan?**

It depends on the beach: swimwear is only allowed on designated tourist beaches on inhabited islands. We confirm Gan's rules before your shoot and plan looks and locations to match.

**Can you fly a drone for our photoshoot on Gan?**

Often yes. Drone rules vary by island and resort; we check Gan's current permissions before your session and, where flying isn't possible, plan aerials from a nearby sandbank.

**How quickly do we get the photos from our Gan shoot?**

Your full edited gallery arrives within 48 hours, print-ready files plus social crops, with a preview first so you can choose favourites and request edits.
