La Digue is the third-largest inhabited island and the quietest of the three, small enough that bicycles remain the normal way to get around. The island's granite is its signature: weathered boulders the size of houses sit along the south-west shore, and L'Union Estate, an old coconut and vanilla plantation, backs onto them.

- Anse Source d'Argent: Sculpted granite, shallow turquoise water and pale sand. Reached through L'Union Estate, and the most photographed beach in the country.
- Grand Anse: The exposed south-east coast, wide and empty with real surf, a complete contrast to the sheltered west.
- L'Union Estate: Plantation buildings, an old copra mill and a vanilla plantation on the way to the beach.

## Notas prácticas sobre *La Digue*

- Tides: Anse Source d'Argent is at its best on a low tide, when the sand between the boulders opens up. On a high tide much of it is under water.
- Access: The beach is entered through L'Union Estate, which charges admission and keeps its own hours. Getting around the island is by bicycle or ox-cart rather than car.
